Buffalo's Bay Day Gives New England Route to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result could have created opportunities for the New England Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City last week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and first points in the fourth - admittedly Miami had ten days to prepare but it was still a massive egg laid by one of the league's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but rusher Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5-yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to seven points just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defense and Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the calm, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've seen this season
Miami have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three different eight and two squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the top team?
You can find flaws in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their combined 24 wins coming against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Denver
Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was huge
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his team to victory
The defense is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to break 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
Although you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to end with the best record thanks to their schedule - which features just one game against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but face the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the schedule
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the 5-4 Jacksonville to contend with. There's a long way to go but the door is available for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 teams are NFC West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who each put up forty points to go to 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a contest
Both could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before losing to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the top teams in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year to date
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Berlin - running for 244 yards, scoring three scores and adding an additional forty-two {receiving yards
