Followers Demand Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a barricade and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though legal records revealed that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed features recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, winning several for best costume and artistic direction.
