Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
