People have come together throughout the country to commemorate 24 months since the Hamas-led offensive on 7 October 2023, as negotiations advanced in the neighboring country over a resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

The assault resulted in in excess of 1,200 people dead and 251 others taken back to Gaza as hostages. It was the single deadliest day for the Jewish community since the Second World War.

Israel responded by beginning a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its numbers are regarded as trustworthy by the UN and other world agencies.

"The aggressive opponents have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," the prime minister added on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the aims of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the removal of the Hamas government and the assurance that Gaza will not present a threat to Israel".

Commemorative Gatherings Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled official memorials until 16 October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but events still occurred around the country on that day.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas assault was organized in the coastal city. Arranged by the affected families, it was broadcast throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

A period earlier, a moment of silence was observed throughout the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

At the same time, both sides' delegations convened in the Egyptian tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of indirect talks to examine the conditions of the proposal.

A senior representative involved in the discussions said that an night meeting of negotiations commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official said the earlier meeting ended without significant progress, because of disagreements over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas seeks to ensure Israel does not restart fighting after the first phase of the agreement.

He commented that the negotiations are "difficult and have yet to achieve any significant progress," but pointed out that mediators are working hard to close the gaps between the conflicting groups.

Key Matters in Talks

  • A permanent truce
  • The trade of the hostages still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for humanitarian aid distribution
  • After-conflict governance of the territory

Public Reaction

In the city's Hostages Square earlier, young Hagar - whose brother endured the attack on the outdoor event, where many attendees were killed and many more were captured by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No location appears as home any longer and until all the hostages come back none of us will be secure."

"When we see everyone home once more, we can feel relief again. Then we can start to heal," she continued.

In front of the leader's official dwelling in the capital, people assembled to demonstrate their backing for the relatives of the captives. Israel says 48 remain in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are believed to be living.

Protester one woman stated: "We need do every compromise required for the abducted to return. But we truly desire promises that we will be protected."

Research now regularly indicate that approximately the majority of Israelis want the hostilities to end in return for the release of the captives.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the location of the music event, grieving people assembled to pay their respects.

From that location, the boom of Israeli air strikes and artillery could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where witnesses reported the heavy Israeli attacks persisted.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were documented in the morning of that day in the west side neighborhood, area and locality neighbourhoods and in the east side neighbourhood of the community, as well the camp to the northwest.

"When the night comes, the fear arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose 17-year-old son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack last year, explained.

"My family are terrified of the attacks. All the night we are lying together, holding each other, especially my little child who places his head on me the entire evening."

"Continuously we monitor the reports to see the situation. And I'm worried that this ceasefire will not be finalized and that the conflict will return to us."

Humanitarian Situation

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had received the remains of several people by the daytime, including three killed in an Israeli attack in the southern area.

Nasser hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis reported additional dead people had been delivered. An individual was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while attempting to get assistance to the south, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
