Audiences are thrilled for the horror series It: Welcome to Derry, that's been receiving positive feedback and incorporating references from additional King stories. Following the premiere, the network announced that episode two will arrive early, scheduled ideally for October 31st.

Based in the world of King's It, It: Welcome to Derry borrows elements from the original story while expanding on the setting established by director Andy Muschietti in It and It Chapter Two. It Chapter One highlighted adolescents facing supernatural evils, thus it's suitable that this show follows in those footsteps. Yet, the premiere episode of the streaming show shows it set out to increase the tension, providing even more intense scares than the cinematic versions and establishing a harsh vibe for what's to come.

Taking place in the 1960s, the program introduces a new generation of grown-ups and kids living in a seemingly idyllic town hiding a evil heart. This place functions through a cruel, recurring cycle—defined by hostility, discrimination, and otherworldly forces, as a monstrous presence returns each 27-year cycle. While Welcome to Derry might sound like it leans too heavily to the movies on the surface, what distinguishes the HBO Max series is its two-sided viewpoint—unfolding through the perspectives of kids and grown-ups concurrently. Children are especially susceptible to It's terror, but the adults also face dealing with their personal demons born from local discrimination and lurking supernatural forces.
