The sports network Cuts Ties with Analyst Sanchez, Replaces Him with Former QB Brees
Fox Sports has ended its relationship with sports commentator Mark Sanchez amidst his legal allegations, various sources reported this past Friday.
"We can confirm that Mark Sanchez has ceased working for Fox," a Fox spokesperson commented. "There will be no further comment currently."
Stepping into the commentary position will be an ex- professional quarterback, Drew Brees, as per the report. He will likely to work alongside announcer Adam Amin and is signed to provide commentary until at least 2026.
Background on the Incident Involving Sanchez
Sanchez, 38 had been removed from duties since he was injured in a stabbing and subsequently arrested following a fight in an Indianapolis alley with a 69-year-old truck driver. He had traveled to call the 5 October game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders but was admitted to the hospital and substituted that week by Brady Quinn.
He is facing felony battery as well as at least three lesser charges. The felony charge carries a sentence of one to six years in prison, if convicted, and he has entered a not guilty plea in the Indiana court.
Drew Brees' Career and Background
Brees, 46 retired from the NFL after the 2020 season and spent the 2021 season with the NBC network, serving as a game analyst for the Notre Dame football coverage and featured in Football Night in America.
He has worked in the studio with multiple networks and served as an analyst for a Netflix sports event during the holidays.
He guided the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl XLIV championship in the 2009 NFL season and was a two-time awardee NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He ranks second behind the legendary Brady in NFL history in passing yards (80,358) and TD passes (571).
