Two Victims Identified in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Killer.
The pair of scholars who died in the recent violent attack in Providence were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.
Tributes for Ella Cook
The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.
Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies online, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”
MukhammadAziz Umurzokov
The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.
His name was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.
The Shooting Incident
An additional nine individuals were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.
Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.
“We have a murderer out there,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.
He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our city”.
The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a authority told the news agency.
Law enforcement that raided the inn seized two handguns and magazines when the individual was detained, the news agency reported.
Those Hurt
Of the nine hurt, one pupil was allowed to go home, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and schoolmates and grieve for of his potential.”
